ministries
The women of FPC, Victoria, have organized two “Circles” of Presbyterian Women (“PW”) that meet monthly from September through May: the Mary and Martha Circle (Mary Clark Shields & Martha Allen), which meets at 2:00 p.m. on the second Monday of each month; and the Adele Carsner Young Circle, which meets at 9:30 a.m. on the second Thursday of each month.
PW is the national women’s organization of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Although the members of the Circles which meet at FPC, Victoria, are primarily members of our congregation, they are first and foremost members of this independent outreach and service entity in the PC(USA). Learn More
Consistently with the concept of connectionalism embraced by the PC(USA), our PW members also join with other PW members in PC(USA) churches throughout South and Central Texas to increase the extent and impact of their service within the geographical area encompassed by our local regional body, Mission Presbytery. The PW Purpose, embraced by PW members around the world, states:
Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves:
- to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study,
- to support the mission of the church worldwide,
- to work for justice and peace, and
- to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and witnesses to the promise of God’s kingdom.
To that end, the members of our PW Circles study the Bible, sponsor mission projects, act as community volunteers, prepare and serve meals at church gatherings, and knit, crochet, and sew for many far-ranging charitable projects. Membership in PW(USA) is open to all women who choose to participate in or be supportive of the PW organization in any way.
If you are a woman interested in companionship and service with other Christian women, please email FPC, Victoria with an expression of your interest, and a member of our PW leadership will contact you promptly!
